Tonight Show with Jay Leno
Texas Power featured in The Tonight Show Jay Leno Headlines
The ad with the “Slick Palm Ball” photo showing a hand with six fingers was born in an impromptu brainstorm session between our Marketing and Advertising department. What started out as a spark has now spread into national attention via a mention on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In between the brainstorm and The Tonight Show though explains how we got there.
After its inception, the ad showing different grips for pitches, one of which is impossible without having a spare finger handy, was placed into a Frisco RoughRiders PlayBall. The intention was to have fans try to emulate the grips and come across that “Slick Palm Ball” and not be able to figure out why their hand looks different from the one in the picture. Once they caught on, the joke would then spread through the stadium. Apparently one fan enjoyed the ingenious nature of the ad enough to send it to Mr. Leno for his “Headlines” segment. We genuinely appreciate the effort made by this fan. The submitted ad made the cut and now the rest is history but also a sign of the future of where we as a company are heading.
